Popular TV Meteorologist Lands New Job, Leaving Connecticut

The Connecticut meteorologist is joining the top rated news station in another state. He announced the news Saturday morning.

Connecticut's loss will be South Carolina's gain as popular meteorologist Kevin Arnone, who recently left WTNH-TV, has accepted a job as a weather forecaster for the number one television station in South Carolina.

Arnone made that announcement on his Facebook page. He will be going to WISTV in Columbia, S.C.

Here's what he said: "My wife and I always envisioned moving south one day but never knew when that day would come. During my recent job hunt, moving south was one of our goals and I'm excited to announce that I have officially accepted a job as a meteorologist for the #1 TV Station in South Carolina.

"This is a great opportunity for me and I'm so happy to be part of a winning team!," Arnone said.

Arnone, who grew up in Orange, was a graduate of Amity High School and studied meteorology at Western Connecticut State University, recently left WTNH-TV.

Of leaving Connecticut weather forecasting, he said: "I had a great 4 years at WTNH and can't thank my managers and coworkers enough for the great experience and opportunity.

Arnone said he's been overwhelmed by the positive comments he's received on social media since he broke the news two weeks of his departure of WTNH-TV.

"It's something I never could have dreamed of. Everyday there are 100's of new comments and messages. I can't keep up with it but It puts the biggest smile on my face knowing I've left a positive impact on so many people just doing something that I love!," said Arnone.

Even though he's moving to South Carolina, Arnone said he plans to keep his online weather blog running for "all my Connecticut followers and plan on updating it often. You can find it by clicking here.
