Some Snow and Ice But A Lot of Rain for Orange This Week

Tuesday through Thursday afternoon won't be a lot of fun in Connecticut this week from a weather standpoint.

The only thing missing from this week’s forecast currently is thunderstorms. Enjoy today, it’s calm as it pertains to weather, and Friday is also nice too.

The rest of the week would be a good time to stay in bed. The silver lining here is that late last week there was a concern that a significant storm was going to impact us Tuesday through Thursday and depending on temps it could have been a major winter storm or a major rain storm.

It now looks like it will be more of a major rain storm as opposed to a significant winter storm.

For all of Connecticut, we can expect to see some snowflakes and ice Tuesday evening and early Wednesday, and then it’s a soaking rain all day and night Wednesday and into early Thursday.

Here are the latest details via the National Weather Service:

Today: sunny and temps in the mid 40s.

Tonight: dry and temps in the low to mid 20s.

Tuesday: snow is possible in southern Connecticut after 3 p.m. and it will change quickly to a mix of snow, sleet, and rain up until midnight. The mix will end by daybreak Wednesday, and temps will rise and it will change to just plain rain.

A slushy accumulation of up to a half-inch of snow and ice is possible for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties.

For Hartford and Tolland counties, snow is possible before midnight Tuesday and snow and sleet will continue until around 9 a.m. Wednesday before the precipitation changes to all rain. Wednesday’s morning commute in northern Connecticut could definitely be messy.

Wednesday: rain for the entire state with temps in the low to mid 40s and a half-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night: rain is heavier and we could see an inch or more of rain for the entire state as temps rise into the low 50s.

Thursday: rain ends in southern Connecticut by noon and by 2 p.m. in Hartford and Tolland counties.

Friday: sunny and temps in the mid to upper 30s.

Right now the upcoming weekend looks seasonal from a temperature standpoint and dry.
