St. Luke's Has Three Teams Advance To FAA Championship Games
St. Luke's Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, and Hockey will compete for a Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) Tournament Championship
St. Luke’s Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, and Hockey will compete for a Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) Tournament Championship on Saturday, Feb. 26, after winning their semifinal matchups on Thursday, Feb. 24.
Girls Varsity Basketball hosted Sacred Heart of Greenwich inside Carey Gymnasium and won a hard-fought contest 74-58. The Storm started quickly and raced into an early lead before being pegged back by a talented Tigers team.
St. Luke’s led 33-32 at halftime but fell behind early in the third period. A huge fourth quarter—outlasting Sacred Heart 24-9— earned St. Luke’s victory and the opportunity to win its sixth straight tournament championship.

It was another huge night for Mackenzie Nelson ‘23 who scored her 1,000th career point and led the scoring with 30 points. Caroline Lau ‘22 battled through an early injury to add 17 points, Camdyn Nelson ‘25 scored ten, and Ava Sollene ‘23 chipped in with 8.
SLS hosts Hamden Hall in the FAA final on Saturday at 3:30pm.

For its semifinal contest, Varsity Hockey traveled to the No. 2 seeded Rye Country Day School (RCDS). An early goal from captain Henry Robb ‘22 was enough to secure a place in Saturday’s final. A tremendous defensive effort from the Storm helped blank the Wildcats, with goaltender Aidan Flannigan ‘23 making several big saves.
The Puck Squad will return to RCDS for the final against the No. 1 seed King School. The puck drops at 1:30pm, and if you plan to attend, please have proof of vaccination with you to ensure entry.
In the third and final semifinal of the night, Boys Varsity Basketball hosted Greens Farms Academy inside a packed Carey Gymnasium.
The Storm fell behind early, trailed the Dragons 12-20 midway through the first half, but clawed its way back to take the lead 27-25 at halftime. St. Luke’s continued to pull away in the second half and led by 13 with 4:32 left to play.
GFA continued to pressure the Storm, but SLS closed out a 64-56 win to advance to the Championship game at Brunswick School. Aren Cummings ‘22 led the scoring for SLS with 17 points. Sean Clemons ‘22 added 14, including two huge threes late in the game. Ethan Crawford ‘23 and Mason Pratt ‘23 had nine points each, and Jared Strand ‘25 made an enormous contribution with his energy and seven points.
The No. 1 seed Bruins will host the FAA final with tip-off scheduled for 5:30pm.
