ROCKY HILL, CT — A Rocky Hill eatery known for its traditional Italian cuisine has shut down operations as of Monday, July 8.

Rudy's Little Italy, which was located at 2060 Sileas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, posted via social media Monday that it was closing.

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of Rudy’s Little Italy," wrote the owners on Facebook.

"This decision has been one of the hardest we’ve ever had to make, and it breaks our hearts to close after 7 years of hard work and dedication."

Known for its traditional Italian dishes like pasta, chicken, veal, seafood, steak and pizza, Rudy's didn't give a reason for the closing.

Restaurants all over, however, have struggled with changing dining habits post-pandemic and that, combined with rising costs and staffing issues, has made operating an eatery difficult.

Rudy's owners, however, said they plan to possibly open something else in Rocky Hill later.

"Thank you for being the heart of our restaurant and an irreplaceable part of our story. This is not a goodbye, but see you later," wrote Rudy's.

For now, any outstanding gift certificates for Rudy's Little Italy will be accepted at Rudy's sister restaurant Cafe Luna in Cromwell.
