Initial Snow Accumulation Estimate Made for Woodbury, Middlebury

For the second straight weekend, we could see snow falling. We have the latest update on another wintry weekend forecast this spring.

Connecticut’s winter wasn’t a nightmare, with the worst of it was contained to mid-January and mid-February.

But spring, well, that’s a different story! For the second straight weekend in April, we could see snowflakes and this time, more areas of the state could see snow on the ground, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast as of Thursday morning, April 7.

We’re not talking huge amounts of snow here, but real accumulation is now possible, according to the National Weather Service.

But before we get to the weekend forecast, we’ll be dealing with heavy rains, strong winds, fog, and even an isolated thunderstorm or two Thursday.

The stormy weather is expected to begin this afternoon and taper off just before midnight. The entire state could see more than one inch of rain and possibly up to an inch and a half of rain. On the plus side, temps will be in the mid-50s Thursday.

A “Hazardous Weather Outlook” has been issued for Hartford and Tolland counties for strong winds. No advisories have been posted for southern Connecticut Thursday.

On Friday, more showers are possible, but will likely be more isolated in nature. Temps will be near 50 degrees.

Saturday into Sunday’s snow?

Litchfield County:

Woodbury may see up to a half-inch of snow, over the course of Saturday.

New Haven County:

Snow may enter the western part of the state Saturday morning but the heavier snow is expected after noon. Up to an inch of snow is possible during the day, while the entire region could see another inch or two of snow accumulation before it ends late Saturday night.

The chance for snow here is currently between 60-70 percent, according to the weather service. Temps will be in the low 40s early on Saturday but dip into the mid to upper 20s, which will allow the snow to accumulate.
