Weekend Snow Forecast for Woodbury, Middlebury Revised

On Thursday, the National Weather Service was predicting up to two to three inches of snow for southern Connecticut, and snow was expected for the entire state Saturday and Saturday evening.

In a Friday morning update, the weather service has reversed itself and says while you may see snowflakes in the air this weekend, don’t expect any real accumulation.

The only area where there may even be a coating of snow is actually on the immediate Connecticut coastline. When you move away from the coast, no snow is expected to even stick in a majority of the state.

While the snow forecast is good news for those who are anxious for spring, the temperatures are still going to make it feel more like February than April.

A freeze watch is in effect late Saturday night through Sunday morning for all of the immediate coastline, from Greenwich to New London. Temps will fall below freezing along the coastline, as well as through most of the state.

A warm-up isn’t in the forecast for the coming week, as temps will hover around 50 degrees. At the moment, there is no snow in the forecast.

Here is a detailed look at the weekend forecast via the National Weather Service:

• Friday: Slight chance of showers, partly sunny with temps near 50 degrees, and it will be windy at times.

• Friday night: Cold, temps near the freezing mark.

• Saturday: A chance of snowflakes before 11 a.m. and then whatever light precipitation is falling will turn to rain, though inland sections may see some very light rain and snow mix during the day. No accumulation of snow is expected.

• Saturday night: Snow may redevelop after 9 p.m. for a few hours and a coating of snow is possible at the shoreline. Inland sections and northern Connecticut are not expected to see any accumulation. Temps will be cold and below freezing for all of the state and northern Connecticut may fall back into the mid-20s.

• Sunday: Clearing, sunny skies and temps into the mid-40s.

• Sunday night: Hartford and Tolland counties may see snow showers late Sunday into early Monday, but no accumulation is once again expected.
