Facebook Lottery Group Wins $1M Prize On Scratch-Off Game: FL Lottery

The group was on a Facebook Live video watching one of its members, a Jacksonville woman, scratch the $1M-winning ticket, FL Lottery said.

FLORIDA — A Facebook group of Florida Lottery players won a $1 million prize playing the $1,000,000 a Year for Life Spectacular scratch-off game, according to a Florida Lottery news release.

Elizabeth Williams, 60, of Jacksonville claimed the prize on behalf of the Lucky Lotto Champs Facebook group at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.

They chose to receive the winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.

The group, which consists of five lottery players across Florida, was on a Facebook Live video watching as Williams scratched the $1 million-winning ticket.

"We're a close-knit group that enjoys putting our money together to play scratch-ffs," she said. "When I scratched the ticket, I couldn't believe it. All I could say was 'O-M-G' over and over."

The winning ticket was purchased at Publix at 7749 Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the ticket.

The new $50 scratch-off game, $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR , launched in February and features two top prizes of $1 million a year for life and 234 prizes of $1 million. Additionally, this ticket is filled with more than $1.6 billion in cash prizes. The game's overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.50.
