FL Dive Team Recovers Elderly Man's $16K Heirloom Rolex From Creek

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, FL — An elderly man is breathing a sigh of relief after a Florida dive team retrieved his $16,000 heirloom Rolex from a creek.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, its dive team had their monthly training recently when a man approached them and asked if they could help him find his watch.

Fortunately for the man, the dive team was in the right place at the right time.

"Since the team was already out in the area, they decided to try to see if they could find it," the sheriff's office posted to Facebook. "They [dive team] ended up turning into a training exercise."

Deputies said the man's watch fell into 6 Mile Creek when the band broke.

Twenty minutes after the man asked for help, deputies said they found the watch 20 feet down in the water and brought it to the surface.

Despite being submerged in water, deputies said the watch was still ticking.
