Former Jaguars Player Missing After Mother Found Dead: Reports

Police are searching for Sergio Brown, who played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, after his mother was found dead in Illinois, reports say.

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Police in Illinois are still searching for missing former Jacksonville Jaguars player Sergio Brown, 35, after his 73-year-old mother Myrtle Brown was found dead in a creek near the back of her home over the weekend, according to multiple reports.

The Cook County (Illinois) Medical Examiner's office said Myrtle Brown died from multiple injuries related to assault, and her manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

Sergio Brown was born in Maywood and played football for Proviso East High School. He went on to play as a defensive back at the University of Notre Dame from 2006-09 before being signed in 2010 as an undrafted free agent by the New England Patriots.

Brown spent two seasons with the Patriots and went on to play three with the Indianapolis Colts — starting eight games in 2014 — followed by the 2015 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the 2016 season with the Buffalo Bills, News4Jax reported.

Sergio Brown’s brother on Sunday posted on social media asking for help in finding him.

“My brother Sergio is still missing,” Nick Brown wrote on Instagram. “If anyone knows where he is I want him to know that I love you and please come home.”
