$4M Scratch-Off Prize Claimed By Fort Lauderdale Man: FL Lottery

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL β€” A Fort Lauderdale man claimed a more than $4 million prize playing the $250,000 A Year For Life scratch-off game, Florida Lottery said.

Harrison Porter, 46, chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $4.07 million from the agency’s headquarters in Tallahassee.

He purchased his winning ticket from the Publix at 18341 Pine Blvd. in Pembroke Pines.

The retailer will receive an $8,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

Quiet and reserved, Porter said he was still absorbing what happened. Apparently, his winning ticket couldn't have come at a better time, as he has been going through some challenging times, Florida Lottery said.

"One of the first things I'm going to do is get a place to live," Porter said.

The $10 scratch-off game, $250,000 A Year For Life has more than 7 million winning tickets and $176.4 million in cash prizes, including four top prizes of $250,000 a year for life. The overall odds are 1-in-3.33.
