6 Teens Seriously Injured In Sarasota-Area Crash: FL Highway Patrol

SARASOTA, FL — Six teenagers were seriously injured in a Monday night crash in Sarasota County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

A 16-year-old Sarasota girl drove through a stop sign on Lords Avenue and into the path of an SUV driving west on Proctor Road around 9 p.m.

She drove into the left side of the SUV. The girl was hospitalized in critical condition, FHP said.

Her four passengers — three 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy, all of Sarasota — were seriously injured in the crash.

SUV’s driver, an 18-year-old Sarasota woman, was also seriously injured.

All six teens were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, which is under investigation.
