Sarasota's Mellow Mushroom Owners Step Up After Hurricane Debby

As Hurricane Debby ravaged Sarasota, leaving many homes destroyed by severe flooding, the local community is rallying to support each other. Among the hardest hit were the owners of the Sarasota Mellow Mushroom, whose home was completely flooded. Despite their personal loss, they have opened their business as a hub for collecting hygiene and cleaning supplies to aid those in need.

“We’ve lost so much, but we know others have too,” said Karen Atwood, Owner of Mellow Mushroom Sarasota. “Our goal is to help rebuild our community, one step at a time.”

The Mellow Mushroom team is accepting donations at their location near Siesta Key Beach. They are collecting essentials such as soap, toothbrushes, disinfectants, and cleaning supplies, which will be distributed to those hardest hit by the storm.

The owners’ resilience and dedication to their community have inspired many locals to contribute, and the response has been overwhelming. “We’re just doing what we can to help,” they said, “and it’s heartwarming to see everyone come together.”

For those interested in donating, the Mellow Mushroom in Sarasota will continue to accept items throughout the week.
