SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — With the 2022-23 school year starting, Sarasota County Schools has introduced its clear-bag policy for after-school athletic events.

Only approved bags are allowed, including:

  • clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that don’t exceed 12” by 12” by 6”
  • one-gallon clear plastic bags, similar to Ziploc bags
  • a purse or a small clutch bag about the same size as a hand

  • backpacks
  • binoculars
  • camera cases
  • drawstring bags
  • fanny packs
  • mesh bags, oversized tote bags
  • tinted, colored or pattern plastic bags

Prohibited items include:

  • alcohol and illegal drugs
  • animals (other than service animals)
  • balls, frisbees, whole fruit or other potential projectiles
  • bicycles, skates, scooters or skateboards
  • cans, glass, hydration packs, thermos bottles, metal bottles more than 20 ounces, open containers
  • horns and artificial noisemakers
  • laser pointers
  • open umbrellas
  • poles, sticks, monopods and tripods
  • remote-controlled devices, including cars and drones
  • strollers or portable chairs
  • tobacco products
  • weapons, replica weapons and fireworks
