SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — The red tide health advisory in effect at all 16 Sarasota County beaches for the past several months was lifted Thursday, according to a Florida Department of Health news release.

The health advisory was put in place Dec. 28.

Over the past week, Karenia brevis, the single-celled organism that causes red tide, was seen in “very low concentrations” throughout the county, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Wednesday in its mid-week red tide update.
