SARASOTA, FL — After injuring himself in a 25-foot fall from a ladder at his Sarasota home, U.S. House Rep. Greg Steube was released from Sarasota Memorial Hospital on Saturday, he shared on social media.

The congressman suffered “several serious injuries” during the fall, which happened while he was trimming trees at his home on Thursday, his office said in earlier social media posts. He spent the night in the intensive care unit.

On Friday, Steube was moved out of ICU but remained hospitalized.

No specific details have been shared about his injuries.

Steube represents the 17th district, which includes all of Sarasota and Charlotte counties and parts of Lee County.

“My office will provide updates next week on how my recovery will impact my return to Washington,” he tweeted Saturday.

His fall happened late Thursday afternoon as he did yard work on his property. A witness to the incident immediately called 911, his office said.

Sarasota County Emergency Services responded to his home and brought him to a local hospital.

A delivery driver, Darrell Woodie, saw the congressman fall from the ladder and called 911, according to Fox 13.

"He's bruised up," Woodie told a 911 dispatcher. "A branch hit the ladder and took him out."

He also said that Steube seemed to be “dazed.”
