The free, family-friendly event will feature school supply giveaways, food, entertainment, games and much more.

SARASOTA, FL -- The Sarasota YMCA is ready to help families celebrate the end of summer and get excited for back-to-school time with its Back to School Bash. The event, which takes place at the Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Branch, 1075 S. Euclid Ave., Sarasota, on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon, will feature a bounce house, face painting, food, games and crafts, educational activities and more. The celebration is free and open to the community.

Families who pre-register by clicking here will be eligible for free school supplies donated by Publix including pens, pencils, crayons and markers, notebooks, folders, glue, scissors and more (on a first-come, first-served basis - supplies are limited; for school-age children only).

Additionally, those who sign up for the Sarasota YMCA Adventure Club After-School Program between Aug. 3-5 will save 50 percent on program registration. After-school care is available at Fruitville Elementary (precare is also available at this location), Gocio Elementary, Southside Elementary and Wilkinson Elementary schools. The Sarasota YMCA has just finalized arrangements to offer before- and after-school care at Pine View School as well.

"We understand that, for many families, back-to-school time can be very stressful. It's never easy to transition into a new routine and so many families have to worry about planning for child care and the best activities for their children over the course of the school year," said Kristen Lessig, executive director of youth development for the Sarasota YMCA. "Not only will our Back to School Bash be a really fun way for families to spend time together but caretakers can also learn more about our pre-care and after-school programs as well as activities such as youth sports, competitive swimming and swim lessons, and our Achievers program, which empowers students to set and achieve goals in both their educational and personal lives."
