Sewage Spill In Sarasota Cleaned Without Impacting Waterways

Sarasota County said the 640-gallon sewage spill was quickly cleaned up last Tuesday.

SARASOTA, FL — A sewage spill that happened last Tuesday in Sarasota was quickly repaired and cleaned up without impacting area waterways, Sarasota County said.

In a series of posts on Twitter, the county said a contractor using a drill broke an eight-inch force main in the 4700 block of Fruitville Road.

According to the posts, the force main was quickly repaired. Before repairs were complete, some 640 gallons of sewage spilled onto the roadway and into a stormwater drain.

Crews removed around 9,200 gallons of sewage and stormwater, the county said. No bodies of water were impacted by the spill.
