SARASOTA, FL — One person was injured in a Monday afternoon shooting in Sarasota, authorities said.

Officers are investigating the shooting, which took place near the 1800 block of 23rd Street, just after 3 p.m., according to a Sarasota Police Department news release.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting is an isolated incident and the public is not believed to be in danger, police said. People are asked to avoid the area.
