Seminole Heights ‘Pup Crawl’ Benefits Pet Charity

An upcoming pub crawl in Seminole Heights provides funding for Frankie's Friends, a nonprofit that helps sick pets.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents looking for an excuse to explore Seminole Heights’ trendy restaurant and pub scene will get their chance later this month. Frankie’s Friends, a national pet charity, has announced an upcoming “pup crawl" to benefits its efforts.

Set for Saturday, Aug. 27, the Frankie’s Friends Seminole Heights Pup Crawl takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. The dog-friendly event gives supporters a chance to tour some of Seminole Heights’ trendiest pubs and eateries while supporting the charity’s efforts to “find cures and save pets with cancer and other life-threatening diseases,” the organization wrote in a press release.

Tickets for the crawl are $35 in advance and can be purchased online at www.frankiesfriends.org/florida.

“Whether you’re walking, driving, biking or strolling around Seminole Heights, you will have fun and enjoy the tastes and treats from the most delicious spots the neighborhood has to offer,” Danielle Martin, executive director of Frankie’s Friends, said in a statement.

Frankie’s Friends has made local headlines multiple times this year as it’s worked to help cover the costs of Tampa Bay area pets undergoing critical medical care. In June, the charity helped cover the costs of care for a St. Petersburg service dog who was injured in a hit-and-run crash.

The upcoming crawl starts between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. at Fodder & Shine. Participants will collect an event T-shirt there to kick off the “pup crawl.” Other locations include Southern Brewing & Winemaking, Red Star Rock Bar, Independent Bar and Café, Rooster & the Till, Brewery Bus, The Blind Tiger Café, Heights Pizza, The Refinery and more.

Participants who don’t want to walk the whole route can get up to five free rides from Lyft. That company will also make a donation to Frankie’s Friends for each participant who downloads its app.

“Each of the Pup Crawl locations is providing exclusive food and drink deals that vary by location,” Frankie’s Friends reported. “Specials include Tito's Handmade Vodka drinks, complimentary beverages, appetizer sampling and more.”

In order to take advantage of the offerings, participants must wear their event T-shirts. Guests age 21 and up are welcome. Dogs are not required, but one per participant is more than acceptable. A “grand finale” party is planned at the Brew Bus.
