ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Juan Lopez Estevez, a sales and marketing manager, is running for the St. Petersburg City Council District 3 seat.

He faces five opponents in the race: Peter Boland, Nicholas Carey, Michael Harting, Joshua Nwajei and Barry Rubin.

Why are you running for office?

I am running to bring my proven track record of public service and municipal work experience to address District 3's biggest challenges. Having been raised in the district, I am deeply committed to preserving the character, identity, and charm of St Pete. As we face rapid growth and development, my goal is to ensure that our progress enhances our community without compromising our quality of life and what makes our city special.

What do you think are the top 3 issues the city is currently facing?

I believe the top 3 issues that the City is currently facing are flood mitigation, our aging infrastructure, and rising cost of living including affordable housing.
