ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A civilian employee with the St. Petersburg Police Department was arrested after accessing a confidential police database to provide information to a man who used it to commit a crime, authorities said.

Robin Conyers, 59, was charged with unlawful use of a two-way communication device and offenses against computer users — misuse of confidential information, the department said.

She was booked into Pinellas County Jail Thursday and has been placed on administrative leave without pay, pending the outcome of the criminal charges.

Conyers' supervisor noticed entries that were not work-related during a routine quarterly audit, police said.

The information was turned over to the Office of Professional Standards to investigate.

Detectives found that not only did Conyers violate department policies, but she also committed a crime.

She shared information on the deceased owner of a vehicle to Delon Walton. Walton then used the information to fraudulently transfer the title of the vehicle to his own company, police said.

St. Pete police arrested Walton last month on various charges.
