Teen Charged In Fatal Shooting Death Of 11-Year-Old Boy: St. Pete Police

The 14-year-old boy turned himself him four days after the fatal shooting of 11-year-old Veondre Hargrove​, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A teen has been arrested and charged in connection with the Aug. 8 shooting death of an 11-year-old boy in St. Petersburg.

According to police, the 14-year-old was charged with manslaughter after turning himself in on Sunday. Patch is not identifying the teen because he is a minor.

On Aug. 8, police were called to a home in the 4200 block of 11th Avenue South after receiving a call about a shooting. When police arrived, they found 11-year-old Veondre Hargrove dead inside the home.

Investigators later determined Hargrove had gone to the home to visit a friend when the suspect arrived a short time later. An argument ensued and Hargrove was shot, police said. The suspect then fled on foot, according to authorities.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
