A 70-year-old St. Petersburg woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing 22nd Avenue N. Wednesday evening, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 70-year-old St. Petersburg woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing 22nd Avenue N. Wednesday evening.

Karen Moorefield was walking across the road near 41st Street around 6:45 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle traveling west, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

The vehicle, which investigators believe may have been a Cadillac SUV that now has front-end damage, immediately left the area, police said.
