Driver Killed In DUI-Related Crash In Forsyth County: Deputies

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the driver, Randall Mize, failed to maintain his lane multiples time before crashing.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — Forsyth County deputies are investigating a crash that left one person dead early Friday morning.

Around 2:12 a.m., a Forsyth County deputy noticed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane several times on Buford Dam Road.

"The deputy attempted a stop the suspected-DUI driver; however, the driver fled at a high rate of speed," the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Authorities said the driver continued speeding prior to crashing near Rockport Drive.

Deputies said the driver, Randall Mize, 49, of Sugar Hill was transported to North Fulton Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

"Driver intoxication is suspected to be a contributing factor," the sheriff's office said.
