Second Fatal Motorcycle Crash Reported In Forsyth County This Week

A 39-year-old man from Waleska died Tuesday after he crashed his motorcycle off Matt Highway, according to the Sheriff's Office.

CUMMING, GA β€” A 39-year-old man from Waleska died Tuesday after he crashed his motorcycle off Matt Highway, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The Forsyth County 911 Center received calls on Tuesday morning about a motorcycle and rider found in a large ditch or drainage area on the eastbound side of Matt Highway near McBrayer Road. The driver, Dustin Darby, 39, of Waleska, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation found the motorcycle, a 2009 Yamaha FZ-600, driven by Darby was traveling east on Matt Highway, crashed on the curve in the road and hit a utility pole.

Due to the final resting positions of the rider and motorcycle, neither were seen by drivers passing by until several hours later. The estimated time of the crash is sometime between 1:48-3:48 a.m.

Based on travel distance and damage, it was determined Darby had been speeding prior to the crash.
