23 Metro Basketball Players Nominated As McDonald's All Americans

Hebron Christian in Dacula placed four of its girls as McDonald's All-American nominees; Fulton County tops all with 9 nominees.

GEORGIA — Ten boys and 13 girls from metro Atlanta high-school basketball teams were among more than 700 players nationwide nominated last week for the 2021 McDonald’s All-American Game.

Nine Fulton County players — five boys and four girls —made the list, putting Fulton ahead of all other metro counties. Gwinnett County followed with eight players, while Cobb, Henry and Rockdale counties placed two players each.

Multiple players from several schools made the list, including four from the girls’ team at Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula; three from the girls’ team at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee; and three from the boys’ team at Pace Academy in Atlanta.

The final 48-player roster will be named at the end of February. The game itself won’t take place in 2021 because of COVID-19 restrictions, but the players will be honored virtually.

This year’s nominees are spread coast-to-coast, representing 44 states and the District of Columbia. High school players from Texas received the most nominations (87), followed by Florida (58) and California (57).

Alumni of the McDonald's All-American Game include Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Zion Williamson, Maya Moore, Candace Parker, A’ja Wilson and many more.
