24th Annual Memorial Day Parade in Dacula

Memorial Day…A day to reflect on our Veterans and their service to our country.

The 24th Annual Memorial Day parade in Dacula is set for Monday, May 29, 2017. The parade will step off at 10:00 AM from Hebron Baptist Church, proceed down Dacula Road towards Dacula Park, turning right on Second Ave. and ending at Dacula High School and proceeding back to the church via Hebron Church Road.

The theme of this year’s parade is “Price of Freedom”. The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is Mary Pittman, a WWII, U.S. Army veteran.

The parade features the Fallen Heroes of Georgia, Veterans, VFW Post 5255, restored and present day military trucks and humvees, Scouts, Churches, Community groups and organizations, antique and classic cars and trucks, tractors, horses, the official Wells Fargo stagecoach, local businesses and much, much more!

We are also excited to announce that again this year there will be an aerial flyover to begin the 24th Annual Memorial Day parade in Dacula! The C-130 flyover will be conducted by the 94th Airlift Wing and the 700th Airlift Squadron out of Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Marietta, GA.

Marvin Atherton, Founder of the Memorial Day in Dacula, will give his annual Memorial Day speech and emcee the parade, entry by entry, from in front of Fire Station 16 on Dacula Road.

The Memorial Day parade in Dacula has been a proud tradition in Dacula since 1994. The parade remains the only Memorial Day parade in Metro Atlanta, largest in the state of Georgia and one of the largest in our nation with 130 entries this year! The parade typically attracts 10,000 to 12,000 spectators that line the streets to honor our veterans.

So, on this Memorial Day, grab the lawn chairs, load up the family and come be a part of an ongoing tradition in Dacula.
