Adopt Adoring Dogs, Caring Cats For $20 This Month

The Gwinnett Animal Shelter is offering dog and cat adoptions for $20 during the month of June.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA– To celebrate the end of another year of school, the Gwinnett Animal Welfare and Enforcement folks are cutting adoption fees for dogs and cats to $20 during the month of June.

As a bonus, for $20, you can adopt two kittens.

This month, all pets are free on Fridays. Our hard-working teachers and other education staff can adopt pets at no charge every day except Sundays this month. Any animal who has been in the shelter for more than 30 days is also yours for free.

Dogs and cats up for adoption at the shelter have been examined by Animal Welfare staff veterinarians, vaccinated, and neutered or spayed, so they are ready to go home on the day of adoption.

Shelter fees are typically $90 for a dog. Cat adoptions are $30.

Keep in mind that adopting an animal is a decision that should include responsible planning for space, permission if renting and follow-up veterinarian care. Animals are forever family members that require love, attention, exercise and stimulation and can live 10 years or longer depending on age and breed. Please consider this if you are planning to adopt.

If you cannot adopt, consider volunteering at the animal shelter or donating supplies or money to help the shelter improve the health of the animals, increase the number of adoptions and rescues and continue to offer pet care education free to the community.

The shelter is open for adoptions Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
