City of Dacula Raises Trash Pickup Rates While County Lowers Them

The City of Dacula just announced that Solid Waste Pickup rates for residents would increase while Gwinnett County is lowering them!

Inquiring minds want to know why The City of Dacula just announced higher Solid Waste monthly pickup rates while at the same time Gwinnett County was lowering their rates. In addition Gwinnett County is now offering a 25% discount to homeowners over 62 reducing the monthly charge to only $13.75 for their esteemed Senior Citizens. Apparently the City of Dacula offers no such discount leading one to only conclude they do not hold their Senior Citizen residents with any special esteem.

It would make sense for Dacula to incorporate their trash pickup with Gwinnett County to gain better pricing power and lower rates for their citizens.

Gwinnett County subcontracts with private companies to handle trash and recycle pickup while the City of Dacula manages it's own operation.

One can only wonder about the wisdom of the Town Leaders being for this higher cost service and if there is any self dealing involved in the process.

There is a City of Dacula election next year and I am sure this will be a subject of debate as to the financial acumen of the current leadership!!
