Dacula Football Standout Williams Honored At Athens Banquet

Dacula resident and former football standout Des Williams was honored by the National Football Foundation for his post-grad achievements.

GEORGIA — Dacula resident and former Dacula High School football standout Des Williams has been honored by the National Football Foundation for his achievements after leaving the sport.

Williams received the Post Graduate Achievement Award at the banquet of the foundation’s University of Georgia chapter, held May 24 in Athens.

A Gwinnett Daily Post Defensive Player of the Year for Dacula High, Williams went on to be a starting fullback with the Georgia Bulldogs from 2003 to 2006. He also founded and sold two landscaping companies while he was a student. Williams now lives in Dacula and is general manager of 4Evergreen Landscaping and 4EverBluePools, both based in Gwinnett County.

Former University of Georgia star linebacker and current ESPN personality David Pollack was the main honoree. Pollack will be inducted later this year into the College Football Hall of Fame in Las Vegas.

The National Football Foundation promotes amateur football and has about 12,000 members nationwide. The University of Georgia chapter is one of its largest.
