Why Asking How Much Is It?! Is A Horrible Way To Shop For Anything

If your child asks you an open ended question like…. How much is a house in Dacula, or house much is a car In Dacula? Without any other information from the child in regards to brand, size or geographic information, your response will most likely be the same….. “ It Depends”, and we all know what the next question from the child will be….It “Depends” on what?!!!

Well this is the exact situation that consumers put Dacula sales people in, when they come up to us, and ask us how much our product or services are. Wellllllllll it “Depends!!!!”

It Either Costs This Much.... Or It Doesn't... RIGHT?
It depends on the state that you buy a house or car in, or how many rooms and bathrooms a house has, is the car a rare sports car or a everyday SUV, is the house in a good school district with low crime, or in the heart of a decaying side of town in California, and how long has the house or care been on the market? All of these things determine price!

Let Me Explain Further
There are very few cases inwhich the same product or service costs the same to everyone all time. Even something as simple as buy a Coca Cola can range in price depending on where you are, and the situation that you are in.

For example:
A Coca Cola fountain at the neighborhood Dacula QuikTrip gas station can range from .99 cent to $1.49

However, those same drink sizes at Disney World would fetch:

• Regular Fountain Beverages:now $3.99
• Large Fountain Beverages:now $4.49

This is according to a 2018 article about the new 25% price increase taking affect in the Disney Park. Even bottled water and coffee can cost a pretty penny at Disney.

• Smartwater:now $5.50
• Coffee: now $3.29

However, you don’t have to travel to Disney to pay a lot for a cup of coffee, simple go to the nearest Starbucks in Dacula and try to get a seasonal Salted Caramel Mocha Venti, that will be $5.25 please. Or you could even pay $5.95 for a Evolution Fresh — Grande (whatever that is)

My Point
When shopping for anything in Dacula or anywhere else, keep in mind that there are other factors involved other than just what “you”have budgeted for, or what “you”are comfortable spending. Even in a service oriented business like my Dacula video game birthday party truck, prices vary substantially, depending on who you hire and what type of experience you want.

As you can see from my screenshot above, their is a Game Truck competitor of mines that is PROUD to only charge $199 for his services, when the going rate for other entry level Dacula Game Trucks in his category averages around $299 to $399. However, just like the Disney park and that nice house on the good side of Hamilton Mill with the great schools, my Game Truck services currently start at $499 and go up to $899.

Why do I charge soooooooooo much, for the same service? That’s because we are in fact nothing a like! Just like both McDonald's and Burger King on Dacula rd near Hebron Church sales hamburgers, they differ in how they are made. One is the other is flame broiled.

My competitor and I may look similar on the outside, and we are similar on the inside only, in the fact that we both have video game inside a trailer. But other than that, the services that we both offer are as different as night and day.

I use my Dacula business as an example to prove why asking “How Much Is It” is a terrible way to shop for anything, because the price doesn’t really tell the consumer the true value of what they get.

Ask These Questions Instead
When shopping for anything, instead of asking How Much Is It?

Ask:

1. What Makes You Unique? — If they can’t answer that question, or the only answer is a lower price, then the real answer to that question is “WE ARE NOT UNIQUE”

If I buy your Dacula product or service how will “I” benefit? — A person should be able to articulate not only their products or services features, but they should be able to explain to you how you personally will benefit from doing business with them. “If they can’t then keep shopping”

2. Why Does Your Dacula Product or Service Exists? — This is by far the most important and profound question that will leave 90% of the people looking like a deer in headlights.

Thats because the majority of employees and even managers don’t think past making profit. The question of why the company does what it does has never even entered their mines. Everyday I ask my employees why we exist before we head out to do a birthday party, so that they are reminded that their job serves a bigger purpose than just playing video games.

Instead their purpose is to make the Dacula Guest Of Honor feel like the most important kid in the world on their birthday. If a person can’t answer this question, “DON’T BE SURPRISED” their boss probably can't either!
