Gwinnett DA Investigator Injured In Shooting: Police

Police said an investigator for the Gwinnett County district attorney was shot by a passing motorist while driving in Dacula on Friday.

DACULA, GA β€” An investigator for the Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office was hospitalized Friday after he was shot while driving, according to police.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office said authorities responded to the intersection of Auburn and Old Fountain roads shortly after 6 p.m. after receiving a call about an officer in need of assistance.

According to police, the investigator said he was driving on Auburn Road when a man driving a silver SUV with damage to the rear passenger side shot him. Authorities said the shooter continued driving through the intersection toward Dacula Road.

Authorities said the investigator pulled into a nearby convenience store before calling for help. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the sheriff's office.

Local police and the district attorney’s office are investigating the shooting. Authorities are still searching for the vehicle matching the one driven by the shooter.
