Here are the top three stories today in Dacula:

  1. The Gwinnett Police Department invites residents of Gwinnett County to attend a community meeting on Thursday, Mar. 9 at the Universal Church in Norcross, a 30-minute drive from Dacula. The meeting comes in response to recent tragedies that have taken place in the local community, including youth-involved homicides and overdoses. The panel will include the Chief of Police J.D. McClure and the command staff of the West Precinct and Criminal Investigations. While active cases cannot be discussed, residents are welcome to ask questions. (11 Alive)
  2. Gwinnett Technical College's new three-story facility is set to be complemented by more campus renovations and improvements. The 82,000-square-foot facility will be dedicated to computer information systems, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies training. It will house the computer science and gaming departments, a cybersecurity war room, a gaming technologies room, 29 classrooms, and an eSports lab. In addition to the new building, the college’s main building will also undergo renovations in addition to resurfacing projects for the campus's parking lots. (Subscription: Gwinnett Daily Post)
  3. The Gwinnett County Police Department is scheduled to host classes on firearm safety and security on Mar. 15 and Apr. 12 at the Gwinnett County Police Training Center. Police will teach best practices for firearm handling and storage. Youth planning to attend must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and those interested can visit the department's website here for more information. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
