5 Gwinnett Students Arrested In Connection With Social Media Threats

Students were arrested in connection with threats of violence made on social media, according to police. Dacula schools received threats.

DACULA β€” Five Gwinnett County Schools students were arrested last month in connection with threats on Snapchat and TikTok to commit acts of violence, according to several media reports.

The investigation was discussed last week at a news conference, reported WXIA-TV, who said the five Gwinnett County students facing charges range from middle to high school. Tony Lockard, chief of police for Gwinnett County Public Schools, told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that the students are being charged in juvenile court with terroristic threat and dissemination of information related to a terroristic threat.

According to WAGA-TV, district officials said Dacula Middle and High Schools, along with Mill Creek, Mountain View, and Collin Hills high schools all received threats in recent weeks. The threats include harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence against schools, investigators told WAGA-TV.
