The man had gone outside in a wheelchair sometime overnight, collided with a guardrail and fell out of the wheelchair, police said. In doing so, the man likely sustained physical injuries, police said.

Based on surveillance footage, police said the man eventually died at the scene.

He was found with blood on his body, and police said it seems he was only wearing undergarments at the time of his death. A wheelchair was found on the sidewalk, police said.

Though the Crime Scene and Homicide units were called to the scene, police said his death is not being probed as a homicide. The man was not identified.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the exact manner and cause of death, police said.
