In Memory: James William Wall Jr., 89

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, had a passion for storytelling as a member of the Southern Order of Storytellers.

James William Wall Jr., age 89, died Friday, May 29, 2015 at Emory Midtown Hospital, Atlanta, GA.

Mr. Wall was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather – and an inspiration to everyone with whom he came into contact.

He and his wife, Marilyn were active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mr. Wall was born March 2, 1926, in Van Leer, Tenn., to the late Lilla Mai Browning Wall and James William Wall Sr. He was one of nine children. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marilyn Jo Wall of Dacula, GA; his sister, Marge Earline (Bill) Wall of Columbia, TN; his daughters, Cynthia Wall Durham of Decatur, GA., Pamela Wall (Bruce) Applegate of West Lafayette, IN., and Sister John Margaret Wall, O.P. of Nashville, TN; his sons, William Michael Wall of Covington, GA, and Brian Edward (Gabriela) Wall of Tampa, FL; his step-son, Army Major General Rex Alan (Rebecca) Spitler of Berkeley Lake, GA and his step-daughter, Katrina Marie (Michael) Scheele of Greensboro, NC. His step-son Earl Lee Spitler preceded him in death in 1999. Wall also was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 1, from 9-11 AM at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road, SW, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 1, at 2 PM at the Dacula Ward Building, 2600 Cammie Wages Road, Dacula, GA 30019.

Interment at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road, Canton, GA 30114 at 9:30 AM on Tuesday June 2. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humanitarian Services c/o LDS Philanthropies, Joseph Smith Memorial Building,15 E. South Temple St. #2E, Salt Lake City, UT 84150 or to Southern Order of Storytellers, P.O. Box 16882, Atlanta, GA 30321.
