What's Open, Closed In Dacula For July 4, 2020

As the Independence Day holiday falls on a Saturday, some services will have schedule changes the day prior.

DACULA, GA β€” Fourth of July is going to look different this year due to the ongoing pandemic. Gwinnett County's fireworks and many other celebrations are postponed or canceled, leaving residents to find ways to celebrate at home. But one thing we can count on is a scheduled holiday.

Because July 4 falls on a Saturday in 2020, the Independence Day holiday is observed on Friday, July 3. Gwinnett County government offices β€” as well as Dacula city offices β€” will be closed, and other services will have schedule changes.

Many services are already affected by the pandemic. Here are the openings and closings to know around the holiday:

City of Dacula offices: Dacula city offices will be closed on Friday, July 3. For more information, visit Dacula's website.

Gwinnett County government offices: Gwinnett County Government offices are closed on Friday, July 3.

Courts: Courts do not operate on July 3.

Animal Shelter: The Gwinnett County Animal Shelter is closed on July 3 but will be open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 4. Those wanting to adopt an animal must arrive by 3 p.m. to allow time for paperwork. Visit the shelter's website to see animals available for adoption.

Gwinnett County Transit: Except for express buses, the transit system will operate on July 3. No buses will operate on July 4. Normal service will resume on July 6. For more information on Gwinnett County's transit system, visit its website.

Libraries: All Gwinnett County libraries are closed July 3-4. They will reopen for normal hours on Sunday. The library system has more information its hours and services on its website.

Park authority: Gwinnett County Parks will be sunrise to sunset all holiday weekend. For more information about parks and how to reserve facilities, visit the county's website.

Post offices: Closed on Saturday, July 4.

Trash and recycling pickup: Trash pickup will continue as usual. For more information, see gcsolidwaste.com.
