DACULA, GA — New Year's Eve may be different again this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But something that hasn't changed is the closure of many services in Dacula for the holiday.

While New Year's Day is a holiday for federal employees, some services are starting their closures on New Year's Eve since Jan. 1 is a Saturday. Here are the openings and closings to know on and around New Year's Eve and New Year's Day:

  • Dacula government offices and courts are closed on Friday and will open Monday.
  • Gwinnett County public safety services are available 365 days per year.
  • Garbage pickup in Dacula will run normal. Recycling will be picked up Monday, Jan. 3.
  • This is a holiday for federal employees and most U.S. Postal Service post offices are closed Saturday, but mail will be delivered and most postal offices will be open Friday.
  • Libraries: Gwinnett County libraries will close at early Friday and remain closed Saturday. Dacula Public Library will close at 6 p.m. on Friday.
  • Schools: Students at Gwinnett County Public Schools are on break through Jan. 5. Second semester begins on Thursday, Jan. 6.
  • All banks will be closed Saturday.
  • Grocery store hours vary.
