Duluth Art Week Kicks Off On Friday

Duluth Art Week will get started with the unveiling of a towering new piece of artwork in Parson Alley on Friday.

DULUTH, GA β€” Duluth's Art Week β€” which will actually run for nine days β€” will get started on Friday with the unveiling of a towering new piece of art in Parsons Alley.

Live entertainment, food trucks and more are planned to accompany the big reveal.

The 9-day art week will begin on Duluth's Food Truck Friday and continue with the inaugural Duluth Arts Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 10-11. The two-day festival, sponsored by the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces, will feature up to 60 painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metal workers, glass blowers, jewelers and other artists.

On Monday, June 12, there will be a community art project during which residents are encouraged to come to Duluth Town Green's parking lot to paint water barrels for future use by the city.

A game of "Tweet And Go Seek" will be hosted next Tuesday and a free event at Red Clay Music Foundry is set for next Wednesday, when residents can meet members of local bands.

On Thursday, June 15, eat lunch on the Town Green and listen to live music at "Eats and Beats" and next Friday, June 16, attendees can enjoy lantern making and a lantern parade at Food Truck Friday in downtown.

The Art Week will wrap up with an award-winning theatrical performance by Aurora Theatre.

The musical play "In the Heights" will hit the Duluth stage. The show is free to the public, however VIP tables are available.

Local businesses, including the Hudgens Center, Miss Cindy's Dance Studio, Chick Fil-A and Chattahoochee Yoga will be showcasing artwork throughout the week. "Eat Like A Local" also will be happening all week, showcasing local restaurants.
