Gwinnett Braves To Host Goat Yoga

The sold-out event, hosted by an Atlanta-based company, will let visitors mingle with goats while they do yoga in the outfield.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Forget cheap beer, wacky mascots and Kids-Run-The-Bases Night. The Gwinnett Braves are bringing something new to the minor-league baseball promotion game — yoga with goats.

There will be an hour-long yoga session, featuring a presumably enlightened bunch of goats, after Sunday's game with the Columbus Clippers at Coolray Field.

And it's a hot ticket, too. The 7 p.m. outfield session, which went for $40, is already sold out.

Sponsored by the Braves, the promotion is being put on by Red Wagon Goats, an Atlanta-based company that rents out goats — usually for weed and pest-plant removal purposes.

On its website, the company promotes goat yoga as a relaxing, family-friendly experience.

"We like to say 'when you hold a baby goat to your heart, it melts the broken pieces back together'," the site reads. "Take the widely-known stress-reducing and mind-body-connecting benefits of yoga, and couple that with the joy, silliness, and unpredictability of hanging out with goats and voilà, the bliss train has arrived. "

For those would-be yogis who missed out, the G-Braves will be hosting yoga again at Coolray on July 8. For $25, you'll get an hour-long session in the outfield. But, two warnings — there will be no game and there will be no goats.

Coolray Field is located at 2500 Buford Dr NE in Lawrenceville.
