Gwinnett Christmas Tree Recycling Event Set For Saturday

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett County's big Christmas tree recycling event has been rescheduled for Saturday.

Sponsored by Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful, Bring One For the Chipper had been scheduled for this past Saturday, but was postponed due to thunderstorms in the area.

Now, the event — at which thousands of Christmas trees are chipped into mulch — is set for 8-11 a.m. at Bethesda Park in Lawrenceville.

The park is located at 225 Bethesda Church Rd., near the soccer fields.

The chipping will primarily be of trees that people have already dropped off.

"Recycling your Christmas tree keeps trees out of landfills by recycling them into mulch," Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful sayson its website."This effort saves precious landfill space and provides an easy and environmentally conscious solution for residents."

The group is seeking volunteers who would like to pitch in. Individuals, as well as groups and organizations, are welcome. Volunteers are encouraged to:

  • Wear work gloves, long pants, thick-soled shoes and work clothes they don't mind getting dirty
  • Print out and sign a volunteer release form on Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful's website
  • Address any questions by calling 770-822-5187

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.
