Monday Roadwork To Slow Traffic at Ga. 316 and I-85

The work will require a lane closure and is expected to last from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Roadwork is set to begin Monday morning that could slow traffic at the intersection of Ga. 316 and Interstate 85.

Maintenance crews will start work around 9:30 am. Monday to complete repairs to the State Route 316 bridge that merges traffic onto the interstate's southbound lanes.

The Georgia Department of Transportation says that concrete that connects the roadway to the bridge has settled. Initial repairs have been completed, but final work to see the expansion joint — which allows the concrete to expand or contract based on temperatures — will happen Monday.

The work will require a right-hand closure on the bridge. Drivers will need to be alert while traveling the 316 bridge as the lane closure is expected to cause delays, the DOT says.
