Renovations Completed at Ronald Reagan Park

The $1.1. million in work at the Lawrenceville park included a reworking of the skate park there.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- The 11-year-old park named after the nation's 40th president has gotten a facelift.

A $1.1 million renovation was recently completed at Ronald Reagan Park in Lawrenceville, county officials announced Tuesday.

The project was funded through a grant from the Land and Water Conservation fund and Gwinnett County's 2014 special-purpose, local-option sales tax.

Renovations included the removal and reconstruction of the skate park, reconstruction of footbridges and railings, construction of a wall at the park's stream, dog park reconfiguration with storm drainage improvements, sidewalk connections, erosion control, landscaping and reforestation.

Other amenities at the 25-acre park include a dog park area, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard courts, bocce courts, two half-basketball courts, pavilions and a multi-purpose trail.

The park is open from sunrise until sunset. Ronald Reagan Park is located at 2777 Five Forks Trickum Rd. in Lawrenceville.
