Missing Child Found Dead In Sandy Springs Swimming Pool
The missing girl, 5, was found in a swimming pool during a brief search and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, police say.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A missing 5-year-old girl was found dead Friday in the swimming pool of an apartment complex, Sandy Springs Police said.
Officers were dispatched around 8:45 a.m. to an unknown apartment complex on a call to help find the girl, who had been diagnosed with special needs, police said.
The child, who was not identified, was found in the swimming pool during a brief search, police said.

An officer jumped into the pool to retrieve the girl, and first responders began life-saving measures on her, police said.
She was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

An official cause of death has not been released, and it is unknown how she got into the pool.
The Criminal Investigations Division is overseeing the probe in the case.
