  1. Sandy Springs will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, Sep. 28, at 4:00 p.m. to mark the completion of a project involving the installation of over 100 pedestrian lights along Johnson Ferry Road. These lights now illuminate the stretch from Brandon Mill Road to the city limit at the Chattahoochee River, enhancing safety for pedestrians traveling to nearby parks and neighborhoods. The event will take place at the Abernathy Arts Center, located at 254 Johnson Ferry Road. (Sandy Springs, Georgia: City News via Facebook)
  2. The family of Montay Stinson, who died in July after being found unresponsive in his cell at the Fulton County Jail, is accusing Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat of "medical neglect" and claimed that he has "blood" on his hands. Stinson's cause of death was determined to be "hypertensive cardiovascular disease." At least 10 people have died at the Fulton County Jail in 2023, prompting a Justice Department investigation into the conditions at the facility. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office stated that Stinson was found unresponsive, with no obvious signs of injury. (Fox News)
  3. A proposal to allow existing gas stations to increase the number of pumps faced opposition at a recent public meeting on the Sandy Springs Development Code update. Residents expressed concerns about removing the current distance requirement between fuel stations, with some arguing against new large-scale gas stations on Roswell Road, citing the presence of six gas stations within a half-mile of I-285 Roswell Road. Additionally, residents raised questions about other proposed updates, including potential encroachments on primary front yard setbacks for homeowners with garages built before 2005 and the lack of focus on affordable housing in the development code.
