Baldino Not Seeking Reelection On Arlington Heights Village Board

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — It appears the Arlington Heights Village Board will have a bit of a different look next year. Following last month's announcement that Mayor Thomas Hayes is not seeking reelection when his current term ends in 2025, Trustee Richard Baldino tells Patch he is also not running on April 1.

Baldino, a trustee since 2017, is an environmental chemist.

"Every day of my two terms has been an honor and a privilege," Baldino said in an email to Patch. "From my unique start as a write-in candidate, I have been determined to listen to neighbors, work hard, and push for a bright future for our village."

Baldino said he is proud for supporting affordable housing initiatives, business developments, and infrastructure improvements as the "nuts and bolts" trustee.

"Municipal elections don’t always get a lot of attention but are critical for the quality of life in our community, so please vote, especially in April," Baldino said.

Last month, Arlington Heights Trustee Nicolle Grasse stepped into a new role as the state representative for the 53rd District. She fills the recently vacated seat of Mark Walker, who became a state senator for the 27th District following Ann Gillespie's appointment as acting director of the Department of Insurance by JB Pritzker. Grasse plans to finish her current term on the Village Board, which also ends in April 2025.

In addition, Daily Herald reports Arlington Trustee Tom Schwingbeck is running for mayor to replace Hayes. Jon Ridler, executive director of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce, is also eyeing a potential mayoral run.
