Aurora Cop Charged With Domestic Battery

The officer allegedly punched and elbowed the victim in the face

Officer Brian R. Shields has been charged with domestic battery, according to the Beacon News. Shields allegedly punched and elbowed the victim in the face several times and bit the victim's finger in an unincorporated part of Kane County on April 5. The victim was brought to the hospital for injuries to his face. Shields, a 46-year-old from Aurora, was released on bond. The department placed Shields on administrative duty pending an internal investigation. He was hired by the Aurora Police department in 2005. Shields is due in court on April 26. A charge is merely an accusation of a crime, not a finding of guilt.
