Small Bathroom Fire Breaks Out at East Aurora High School

There were no injuries and no charges have been filed for this incident.

AURORA, IL — A small bathroom fire broke out at East Aurora High School Friday morning.

According to the fire department, fire crews responded to the school at 9:37 a.m. for a fire alarm caused by a smoke detector activation. Upon arrival, firefighters were led to a bathroom near the cafeteria as the source of the alarm.

The fire was contained to a trash can and was extinguished by the school’s maintenance personnel prior to the arrival of firefighters. Due to the alarm, the school was evacuated. Students and staff stayed outside for approximately 8 minutes while the safety of the building was determined.
