When Will Crystal Lake, Cary Get A Reprieve From Cold, Snow?

The snow and cold may let up soon. Temps nearing 40 degrees are in the forecast next week.

CRYSTAL LAKE, CARY, IL — It's been either snowing or frigidly cold for weeks now. But we may soon get a reprieve from the weather that has kept many of us cooped up since early February.

The National Weather Service is predicting cold temps will remain for at least a couple more days. In addition, more snow is expected Wednesday afternoon through Thursday and more lake effect snow in the forecast on Thursday.

A brief break in snow is expected Friday into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. But there is another chance for snow on Sunday.

The good news is, the frigid temps are expected to lift this weekend and continue to warm next week. Temps nearing the 40s are even in the forecast.

Here is a closer look at the upcoming forecast for Crystal Lake:

Wednesday afternoon: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 5 p. m. is in the forecast. Mostly cloudy skies with a high near 19. On Wednesday night, snow is likely, with a low around 9. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Thursday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy skies with a high near 24. Wind chill values could dip as low as 1. On Thursday night, there is a 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy skies with a low around 5 and wind chill values could dip as low as -6.

Friday: Mostly sunny skies with a high near 18. On Friday night, partly cloudy skies with a low around -5 degrees.

Saturday: Mostly sunny skies with a high near 21 degrees. On Saturday night, mostly cloudy skies with a low around 13 degrees.

Sunday: A chance of snow and cloudy skies with a high near 32. On Sunday night, a chance of snow, mainly before midnight, and mostly cloudy skies with a low around 21.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 34. On Monday night, mostly cloudy skies with a low around 27.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38.
