'Energy Company' Invades Home After Push: Glenview PD Blotter

After access to the home was denied, one of the four people pushed the resident and entered.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Batsaikhan Byambaa, 52, of the 3500 block of Salem Walk, Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 9:44 a.m. March 7, following a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Sanders Road. He was released and assigned a court date of April 1.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • A resident in the 1300 block of Sleepy Hollow Road reported at 10:25 a.m. March 5, they had arranged to buy a dog through Facebook. They sent money through Zelle and an Apple gift card as a down payment, but later realized it was a scam. Total loss is $900.
  • A Lehigh Avenue resident reported at 4:14 p.m. March 6, receiving a phone call from a male identifying himself as Mark McGuire, who told the resident they won a lottery prize. He instructed them to buy gift cards and send the numbers to him to cover the fees associated with winning. The resident sent two $500 gift cards and one $250 gift card, before realizing it was a scam.
  • A resident in the 600 block of Waukegan Road reported at 4:40 p.m. March 6, their diamond ring was missing from the nightstand. The resident had left while the management checked units for pest control. When they returned, the ring was missing. Total loss is $3,200.
  • A resident in the 1700 block of Annapolis Drive called police at 6:52 p.m. March 8, to report someone stole the license plates that were supposed to be mailed to them by the Secretary of State after purchasing a new vehicle. Estimated loss is $151.
  • A Greenwood Road resident reported that on March 8 a representative at Mega Nature USA Corp accused them of purchasing a large amount of medication without paying for the items. The caller told them that they can settle the claim if they pay $1,600. The resident was instructed to go to Moneygram and wire the money, which they did. They received a second call on March 11 asking for $1,700 more, which they refused to pay.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

  • A Fox Lake resident called police at 11:31 a.m. March 5, to report they were seated in their construction van in front of a job site in the 300 block of Nora Avenue, when they heard someone attempt to open the rear and side doors of the vehicle. The person saw the caller and fled in a vehicle.
  • An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Landwehr Road reported at 3:20 p.m. March 6, someone was seen watching skaters, without being a customer. The subject was given a trespass warning not to return to the business.
  • A resident in the 1900 block of Ivy Lane called police at 10:51 p.m. March 8, to report two people were banging on the rear door of the residence. They opened the blinds and saw the pair running southbound through the backyard.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road called police at 1:14 p.m. March 6, to report someone left the store with a shopping cart full of items, after passing the last point of purchase without paying for the items. Estimated loss is $360.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 3200 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 6:38 p.m. March 6, items disturbed and missing from the residence while they were gone. Estimated loss is $7,415.
  • A resident in the 1500 block of Maple Street called police to report that they had left their home earlier, but at 6:30 p.m. March 7, their Ring app showed an unknown subject standing inside their home. They located a window screen cut, the side door standing open, and the backyard gate open. The bedroom had been ransacked, with cash and a ring taken. Estimated loss is $250.

FRAUD

The owner of a business in the 1100 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 9:16 a.m. March 7, someone used the business' debit card to make an online purchase in the amount of $531.80 without authorization.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Hunter Road resident called police at 2:42 p.m. March 7, to report someone opened a Home Depot credit card and then purchased two saws for pickup at the Glenview location. The resident did not authorize the account or transaction.
  • A Waukegan Road resident reported that between March 5 and March 6, someone made two fraudulent transactions with Western Union using their checking account.

HOME INVASION

Police responded at 6 p.m. March 8, to a home in the 4100 block of Cove Lane for a delayed home invasion. The resident reported one female and three male subjects came to the door, identifying themselves as employees of Clean Choice Energy. They requested entry to the home, which the resident denied. The female then pushed the resident and entered the home. The victim started yelling, causing the group to leave the scene in an unknown direction.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

A Milwaukee, Wisconsin resident was cited at 9:17 p.m. March 10, for no valid driver's license after their car became disabled in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

ATTEMPTED THEFT

A resident in the 1000 block of 10th Street reported at 11:48 a.m. March 11, seeing someone through the Ring doorbell camera taking a package from the porch. The person appeared to be startled and put the package back down, then left on foot.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident called police at 3:34 p.m. March 11, to report their vehicle taken without permission sometime between March 7 and March 10 while it was parked on the street in the 1800 block of Admiral Court.
